Our Philosophy
of Care
This is very simple - we believe that every patient
is entitled to receive the highest standard of care available.
The doctors and staff wish to provide
a friendly, efficient and personal service to all of our patients and we believe
that in general we succeed, even though the practice has been the larger of the
local practices for many years.
Preventative medicine is the best
medicine and the practice has a long commitment to preventative health care and
has been running a coronary risk factor screening clinic, well woman clinic since
1979 and a weight clinic since 1980. Antenatal and immunisation clinics have been
established even longer.
We are always happy to see children.
The Partners and most of our staff are married and have children of their
own: this doesn't make us experts, but it certainly helps! So, you can be assured
that we will appreciate your fears and concerns.
Families, children and their problems
are very important to the doctors and staff, for we are family practitioners and
believe that an understanding of these problems and relationships forms the basis
of a good general practice.
It is for these reasons that for
many years we have made special provisions for seeing children under school age.
Special surgeries are run for children; in return we ask that parents do their
best to ensure that their children are on their best behaviour and do not annoy
other patients.
We are not complacent and constantly
strive to improve the care that we offer, actively engaging in audit of our performance
in order to improve both our clinical performance and the service that we provide.
The doctors and staff regularly attend educational courses to keep abreast of
developments in care.
The
Friends Of Selsey Medical Centre
We are extremely fortunate to have
the valuable support of such a dedicated group of volunteers as the Friends who,
through their devoted efforts, have equipped and furnished our purpose-built Medical
Centre which opened in January 2001.
Objectives
Of The Friends
To raise funds to provide increased and
improved facilities and amenities, over and above that which is provided by the
NHS, for the benefit of all patients in Selsey and the wider community, who use
the Selsey Medical Centre.
Achievements
To Date
Initially the Friends provided the finance to furnish
the new medical centre with all the basic equipment. Since then they have provided
a wide range of specialised equipment and facilities ranging from ECG machines,
24-hour BP monitors, a retinal camera, automatic doors, examination couches, provided
the finance to turn office space into a consulting room and provided a vast range
of medical equipment, too numerous to list, as requested by the medical staff.
If
you would like an application to join the Friends, please request a form from
our reception desk.

Freedom
Of Information - Publication Scheme
The Freedom of Information Act 2000
obliges the practice to produce a Publication Scheme. A Publication Scheme is
a guide to the 'classes' of information the practice intends to routinely
make available.
This scheme is available from reception. |
